| Abstract: | EL 2067 is held to explore for limestone. The target specification for quicklime manufacture is less than 4% MgO. For cement manufacture, the grade can be as low as 78% calcium carbonate but the magnesia must be under 2.5% and preferably less than 2%. Air photo interpretation of the EL reveals significant outcrop of limestone in the area. Surface sampling and drilling have been undertaken. Surface samples contained higher CaCO3 than subsurface samples. A bulk sample was been sent to the USA to test its lime burning characteristics. These tests indicated some promise, provided high grade could be maintained. |
