Western Nuclear has conducted exploration in the Bulman area since 1965. Initially the Bulman prospects were investigated as part of the large Arnhem Land project, but is now the centre of more detailed exploration. The prospect is the only known significant mineral showing in the area, and comprises a series of isolated bodies of high grade lead and zinc outcropping at the surface, but no extension to any depth was previously known. The mineralised area is in outcrops of shallow sea dolomitic rocks intruded by dolerite sills and showing evidence of extensive weathering and silicification. Initial work comprised soil sampling and geophysical surveys. The former proved of obscure interpretation and certain aspects of the geophysical results are misleading. Two induced po1arisation programmes, later intergraded by minor electromagnetic and self potential coverages, have however produced significant results thus helping the locating of several diamond drill holes. One of the holes collared along an interesting geological feature within a weakly anomalous area, gave a major galena intersection. The last part of the programme was mainly devoted to a comparative study of all diamond drill logs together with a synthesis of the available documentation concerning previous work. It follows now to express a satisfactory explanation of the guessed relationship between dolerite, mineralisation and silicification. - At this stage an interpretation both of the geophysical and geochemical anomalies is possible and a complete evaluation of the Bulman ore potential should be easily reached.Further drilling undertaken to delineate mineralized zones and their economic potential.en_US
