This report summarises results of the exploration completed during 1974 in Exploration License No 123. The bulk of the area covers the South Alligator River Valley between longitudes 132 deg 18'25' S and 132 deg 35' 00'. The two sections of the Exploration License total 61121.6 hectares (235 square miles). Exploration comprised three radon measuring Track Etch and geochemical surveys in the Window 1, Window 2 and Anomaly 2J areas. Regional mapping of the Barramundie Creek Area with auger drilling totalling 503 m and radon emanometer surveys. Auger drilling totaling 87.4m was also undertaken to elucidate geology and provide geochemical information in the South Alligator Valley near El Sherana. The three radon emanometer anomalies at Gerowie Creek. delineated during 1973 were tested by 532m of rotary-percussion drilling. Conclusions; 1) An anomaly in the Barramundie Creek area to the north of Anomaly W1 has been defined by radon emanometer survey and soil geochemistry, 2) Further investigations on the Anomaly 2J area have not defined any further significant anomalies, 3) Rotary Percussion Drilling at the Gerowie Creek Radon Anomalies has failed to intersect uranium mineralisation of economic significance.en_US
