dc.description.abstract | EL 247 has so far been investigated by geological mapping, a limited amount of drilling and IP work in the Sandy Creek region. Drilling in 1973 did not encounter base metal sulphides associated with the outcropping high grade secondary zinc mineralization. However, IP work done in 1975 covering the wider Sandy Creek region discovered encouraging chargeability anomalies away from the outcrops. It is planned to investigate these anomalies by reverse circulation drilling in August 1975. Similar results encountered on adjacent EL's led us to apply different exploration means. It was decided to carry out an IP survey prior to further drilling. The joint venture partners agreed to Aquitaine's recommendations for a gradient array IP survey. Work was done in two stages, firstly surveying followed 'by the actual IP work. The Sandy Creek region had been previously covered by a survey grid with E-W lines 100 meters apart and pegged every 50 meters along the lines. Fire and termites as well as cattle had substantially damaged this grid and it was necessary to repeg it. This was done in May this year. The grid was also extended 1 km to the north. Several steel pickets were placed along the N-S base lines. This would facilitate later re-establishment of the grid if necessary. | en_US |
