The first records of the Cooley prospect are found in a report by J.V.Parkes written in 1891. There is no mention of it in Jensen's report of 1914. At the present, old workings consist of several shallow pits sunk on veins containing galena. During 1964, induced polarization traverses were carried out in the area. This was in conjunction with the survey over the black soils in the vicinity of the H,Y.C. deposit. An anomaly, which was at first believed to be a displaced extension of the Bull Creek Anomaly, was outlined. Since then this anomaly has been broken into three sections, namely, Cooley I, Cooley II and Cooley III. In 1969 and 1973 some rotary percussion and diamond drill holes were sunk. Only weak to moderate intersections were obtained in the holes, except in Ce' 119 where about 33 m of high grade mineralization was obtained. One vertical diamond drill hole was drilled in 1971 to find an extension of this intersection. No significant mineralization was found. In 1972 it was noted that most of the exposed mineralisation occurred in steeply dipping east - west trending veins. A theory that the width of the mineralization obtained in Ce' 119 was due to drilling down one of these veins was tested by an angled hole. An additional angled hole was drilled in the vicinity of the pits to obtain the extent of the mineralization. This report records what is known and the interpretation of the geology and mineralization of the Cooley I prospect at the present time (1972).en_US
