Abstract: | This is a final report summarising work completed over EL's 6290, 6291 and 6299 during their tenure life. These tenements were reconnaissance heavy mineral sampled for diamonds in 1989 and 1990. Accompanying gold and base metal geochemical samples were also collected. Rare mantle-derived indicator minerals and singleton diamonds were recovered initially, however follow up failed to repeat these results. An aeromagnetic survey and a ground magnetic follow up of the positive results failed to delineate any viable drill targets. Follow up geochemical sampling of a Pb-Zn anomaly in EL 6291 led to the conclusion that the anomaly could be due to scavenging by ironstone. TM imagery and available aeromagnetic data were also examined. Low order gold anomalism was found in EL 6299. It is concluded that no economic diamond, base metal or Au deposits occur in the licence areas, and they have consequently been relinquished. |
