Abstract: The old Chinese Wandie gold diggings were tested by auger drilling undertaken by the Mines Branch. The auger provided inferior samples since coarse material either jammed the auger or was missed. The diggings are in three clusters. Area 1 contains old workings that are 15 feet higher than the surroundings and so were tested for any gold being shed into the alluvial flats. 28 auger holes were sampled, split and panned. Only minor colour was obtained. Drilling of another 88 holes was more systematic; along traverses into the alluvial flats. Gravels representing old stream beds were widespread but contained little colour. Two lines of holes were drilled at the second site. Only 25 holes returned minor colour. A total of 2067 feet were drilled during the reporting period. No additional follow-up is recommended and any further work should consider a technique other than auger drilling.
