Abstract: | This record presents chronologic and isotopic data collected on zircon at the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Ore Deposits (CODES), University of Tasmania; the Advanced Analytical Centre, James Cook University; the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Melbourne; and at Research School of Earth Science, Australian NationalUniversity. Data were collected in support of the Northern Territory Geological Survey (NTGS) regional geoscientific investigations and mapping programs undertaken in the Aileron Province, Northern Territory. Isotope data and interpretations for zircon from 19 samples of igneous, metasedimentary, and sedimentary rocks collected in the HUCKITTA map area between 2011 and 2018 are presented herein. The U-Pb isotopic data were collected using LA-ICP-MS at the University of Tasmania and James Cook University to constrain the timing of geological processes of sedimentation, magmatism and metamorphism in the Aileron Province. In addition, a sandstone sample from a sequence of undeformed sedimentary rocks unconformably overlying mylonitic basement rocks of the Aileron Province was collected to determine its maximum deposition age and parent basin, and also to provide a minimum constraint on the timing of deformation and exhumation of the basement rocks. Selected key samples from the Aileron Province that were previously dated using the SHRIMP at Geoscience Australia (Kositcin et al 2011, 2014, 2018) have been targeted for MC-LA-ICP-MS Lu-Hf zircon analysis at the University of Melbourne. These complementary techniques were undertaken with the aim of constraining the nature and source regions of detrital and magmatic zircon grains, and the nature of the crust underlying the Aileron Province. This Record complements zircon, monazite, apatite, and hornblende chronologic and trace element studies undertaken by Kositcin et al (2011, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021), Reno et al. (2017, 2018, 2020a, b; 2021), and Reno and Fraser (2021). |
