A1 - Vakil, P, A1 - Johnston, R PY - 1988/// Y1 - 1988/ AB - The prospect comprising twenty two mineral claims lying on a possible southern extension of the Union Reefs mineralization and close to the Old Caledonian Mine. This report details work carried out during the second year of tenure, ending 16 July 1988. This work included a data review interpretation of aerial photography, geological mapping, and soil sampling. Geological Mapping - Reconnaissance geological mapping was carried out over most of the tenement block using 1:10000 aerial photographic enlargements. The results appear in the hard copy company report on drawing MH7-2. Exposure on the tenements is very poor, but the whole area is believed to be underlain by sediments of the Proterozoic Burrell Creek Formation. It is possible however that the contact between the Burrell Creek Formation and the underlying Mt Bonnie Formation may lie under soil cover in the extreme north east corner of the tenement block. Several large slate outcrops (Burrell Creek Formation) were located in the north central part of the claim block, as shown in the hard copy of the company report. A number of north west trending folds have been inferred over areas of quartz colluvium in the northern portion of the claim block. Geochemical Sampling - A total of 147 soil and rock samples were collected during the reconnaissance mapping programme. These samples (number Dl40l-Dl547) were taken at some intervals along 5 north east trending sample traverses and are detailed in the hard copy of the company report. Each sample is more accurately located in the Sample Ledger and assay results are listed. T2 - CR1988-0387 UR - https://geoscience.nt.gov.au/gemis/ntgsjspui/handle/1/65925 ER -
