The recent discovery of a substantial hardrock gold deposit in the adjoining Woolwonga Field has highlighted the prospectivity of this area. Exploration this year was aimed primarily at hardrock gold mineralisation. Surface rock sampling, stream silt geochemistry and panning, a Geo-Flite remote sensing survey and reinterpretation of the aeromagnetic data were carried out. AB - Indications of gold mineralisation were found in three areas, and further prospective areas were delineated. In particular, of most interest is an inferred southern extension of the Woolwonga Anticline, and an interpreted anticlinal axis situated approximately midway between the Woolwonga Anticline and Glencoe Anticline.
