AB  - The licences were applied for to evaluate the iron ore resource. To assess this potential a review of work carried out by BHP in the period 1955-1961 and of available technologies for processing was undertaken. From the work by BHP it appears that the most likely source of an economic deposit would by in the lower ironstone bed of the Roper Valley as the upper and middle beds are too low grade and-or high in silica.
