AB  - Exploration Licence 2019 is located 17km SSW of Darwin on the southeast side of Darwin Harbour. It comprises two blocks with an area of approximately six square kilometres. It is situated within the 1:250,000 sheet area Darwin and 1:100,000 sheet area Bynoe. In 1983/84 Eastmet Limited held an option over the Licence and over adjoining mineral claims and mineral leases held by the same party. On expiry of Eastmet's option an agreement was made with Top End Mineral Ventures PL of Darwin for their purchase of 100% interest in the EL and adjoining tenements. In 1983-84 GEONORTH, on behalf of Top End Mineral Ventures, undertook preliminary appraisals of several known tin-tantalum mineralised pegmatites in the mineral claims and leases, and also carried out a brief reconnaissance of the Exploration Licence to search for new pegmatites, and ascertain requirements for future exploration. The cost of this work was approximately $4000. No new pegmatites were discovered, possibly due to the very poor exposure conditions in the EL area. Recommendations were made to Top End Mineral Ventures to carry out detailed prospecting and auger drilling to locate possible pegmatites in the laterite areas, and possible detrital tin-tantalite concentrations in selected alluvial areas, at a cost of approximately $4500. It is proposed to carry out this programme in the 1985 field season.
