Year: 2022
Abstract: MPX undertook a Helitem Geophysical Survey over the southern portion of EL 23875 with the support of Round 15 grant funding. The survey was conducted from Friday 2nd September through to Tuesday 6th September. In total 940 line kilometres of data was collected by the contracted team at Xcalibur Multiphysics with a line spacing of 100m. The airborne EM survey was designed primarily to explore for potential magmatic intrusive bodies that have the potential host large scale Ni-Cu-PGE ore bodies. Cover sediments at EL 23875 comprise up to 46m unconsolidated channel fill. This is underlain by Paleoproterozoic granite with magnetite-bearing mafic/ultramafic intrusive bodies emplaced into a sequence of non-magnetic quartz biotite muscovite schist Lander Rock beds. The survey area overly the transitional boundary between the Aileron Province of the Arunta Region, to the east, and the Tanami Region, to the west; an inlier of NeoArchean rocks (2,670 to 2,500 Ma) occurs at the boundary.
