Title: Aileron Reynolds Project Area Annual and final report for EL 31097 Sheppard to 13 September 2018
Title Holder / Company: Arafura Resources
Report id: CR2018-0400
Tenure: EL31097
Year: 2017
Author: Hussey, KJ
Abstract: EL 31097 is located approximately 90km northwest of Alice Springs. The title was granted to Arafura Resources (100%) on 25 August 2016 for a period of six years with an initial area of 351.08 km2. The tenement was relinquished 13 September 2018. The licence area occurs within the Aileron Province which is known to host various commodities, including uranium, rare earth elements (REE), base metals, gold, tungsten and vermiculite. The area was selected because geophysical data indicated outcropping or near surface metamorphic basement with the potential to host Nolans Bore-type REE deposits. The tenement also contains regions with slightly elevated airborne radiometric signatures. Arafura Resources completed preliminary on-ground reconnaissance, sampling and assaying of REE and other exploration targets during the final reporting period. Geochemical results from the reconnaissance samples were low for the elements of interest and exploration targets were therefore downgraded. Arafura elected not to acquire the planned airborne geophysical survey which was originally proposed for this area and decided to relinquish the tenement.
