Abstract: The basic intrusive, 5 miles north of Jervois Mine has been extensively prospected for skarn mineralisation. This has been found to be in two small areas to the north and south of the basic intrusive. Skarn mineralisation is in the form of small lenses of epidotequartz within the basic intrusive. Garnet does not appear to be prominent within the skarns. No scheelite mineralisation was found in samples scanned with an ultra-violet lamp. The skarns are small and scattered and are considered to be low priority at the present time. On the 30th April the Mines Department refused to renew the AP for a further period of 6 months. An evaluation of magnetic data on this AP is being made to search for structural highs which might be associated with mineralisation. A aeromagnetic survey was flown in 1964 over the Lucy Creek area by the BMR to search for oil. The magnetic contours of Lucy Creek indicate that the majority of the anomaly causing sources are at a depth beneath the Cambrian Arrinthrunga Formation. It is doubtful if any small aerial anomalies would be totally recognisable on a map of this scale compiled from reconnaissance data. An inspection of the original magnetic profiles could indicate the presence of more discrete anomalies which only show up as small closures or noises on the BMR map. An exception to the above is the South East of the AP in the vacinity of Jervois Range. Here intense anomalies indicate shallow sources associated with the Archaean Metamorphics and basic intrusives. The magnetic pattern indicates that the archaean mass is terminated to the North East of the Jervios Range and the magnetic pattern indicates major faulting with increased thickness of sedimentary cover or the presence of a granitic intrusion beneath shallow sedimentary cover. There is also a corresponding regional gravity low in this area. Future exploration should involve ground inspection of the South East part of the AP and also of areas where major faulting is indicated. Some of the smaller, discrete magnetic anomalies should also be inspected on the ground to see if there are any indications of mineralisation. If any encouraging indications are found consideration should be given to conducting a detailed combined aeromagnetic and electromagnetic survey of the Cambrian dolomites of the Arrinthrunga Formation. No field work was carried out due to difficult working and climatic condition.
