Title Holder / Company: Tanami Exploration
Report id: CR2005-0652
Tenure: EL10302
Year: 2005

Abstract: EL 10302 is situated 100 km ENE of Alice Springs in Central Australia and was explored as part of the Harts Range Project by Tanami Exploration NL (TENL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tanami Gold NL (TGNL). TGNL is a publicly listed company and active explorer in the Tanami-Arunta region. During 2002 BHP Billiton/TeckCominco Australia Pty Ltd (BHP/Teck) explored part of EL 10302 under a joint venture agreement. EL 10302 was granted on 31 January 2002 to TENL and was surrendered on 30 December 2005. At the end of the second year of term EL 10302 was reduced from 91 to 43 blocks, which has been reported previously. This report describes exploration on the surrendered portions of EL 10302 from grant to surrender. EL 10302 is located on the Alice Springs 1:250,000 geological sheet (SF53-14) and is mostly underlain by high-grade metamorphic rocks of the Cadney Metamorphics of the Strangways Metamorphic Complex and retrograde metamorphic rocks in southeast tenement area. Exploration by TENL consisted of a detailed assessment of the entire region including a comprehensive geological interpretation. Various geochemical sampling programmes were completed, which returned only limited elevated gold results. No work was carried out by BHP/Teck on the surrendered tenement area.
