Title: Final Report, AP 1991, Mount Powell, Harts Range.
Title Holder / Company: Australus Mining
Report id: CR1970-0016
Tenure: AP1991
Year: 1970
Author: Flack, DS
Abstract: AP 1991 was held to explore for rare earth elements, tantalite and uranium. A Geiger counter and scintillometer were used as both a reconnaissance tool and to intensively survey around old mines in the area. No significant anomalies were found. Stream sediment sampling at a nominal density of one per five square miles failed to detect any anomalies. An iron-rich outcrop near Mount Mary Bore was chip sampled without locating anything of interest. All pegmatites, as picked from up on a photogeological study, were also chipped and tested for radioactivity without success. Minor copper mineralisation, samarskite, beryl, corundum kyanite and scheelite were located, but all considered to be too small to be of interest. The area was relinquished. This report does not give locations of samples or their assays.
