Abstract: EL 23630 'Golden Goose' covers the Winnecke Goldfield, Central Australia, approximately 60 kilometres northeast of Alice Springs. The tenement was granted on 5 March 2003 to joint holders Imperial Granite and Minerals Pty. Ltd. (IGM) and Tennant Creek Gold Pty. Ltd. (TCG) and was explored in 2003 under an option agreement by Tanami Exploration NL (TENL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tanami Gold NL (TGNL), a publicly listed company. This report describes exploration carried out by TENL in its second year of tenure. A considerable amount of previous exploration has been carried out on the tenement area, among others by Tanami Gold NL under EL 8164 from 1998 to 2001. Exploration in Year Two included a project review and assessment of previous exploration followed by a reconnaissance trip with several traverses of rockchip sampling. A total of 63 samples were taken at several prospects. Results in general were disappointing; with many samples returning values significantly lower than obtained during previous studies. Best results were received from around the Sloans Gully area (238 ppb Au), which shows this geologically complex area to be prospective. However, the Babbler area is probably of less interest with samples only moderately anomalous, except those from known small diggings. Recommendations for further work includes evaluation of all data collected during the previous year, identify plausible drilling targets based on new structural information and retesting of soil and stream sediment anomalies identified by Normandy Exploration in the 1990s. Of particular interest are the areas around the Coorong, Raven, BeeEater and Sloans Gully prospects.
